Hexagonal mosaic [porcelain] fitted to kitchen splash back. Spring 2017
NZ Spring 2020: a kitchen near Christchurch - the owners considered for a while as to what tile to use on the entire kitchen wall, eventually going for this Spanish irregular edged, semi-handmade one, giving lots of character. All the works of prep, all tile works and shelf fitting by Colin Barber. Client was kind enough to write to Midas Tiles, who supplied the tiles "I also want to endorse the work of Colin Barber (another one of your recommendations). He is a superb tiler and lovely man to boot! We thoroughly enjoyed having him tile our kitchen..." Very kind of you, thanks!
Encaustic / cement type inlaid tiles. Spring 2018
Client testimonial:
“Colin laid encaustic tiles in our front yard. Throughout the job he was exceedingly professional and thorough. He spent a long time working out exactly what was best for our yard in terms of water drainage, therefore ensuring that the tiles have a long life. Colin kept us updated throughout about his decisions and why he had taken them. The end result is beautiful and we are very happy with the work Colin did. We would recommend him to anyone.”

This NZ kitchen was quite plain...the new owner went to 'the dark side' using this tile - to great effect.
A good example of how tiles with relief make dark colours just as useable as lighter choices.
